Admission Requirements

Bachelor's - Degree conferred from an accredited institution of higher education or an expectation to obtain the bachelor’s degree at the end of the semester in which admission is sought. Transcript(s) from a regionally accredited college/university recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board showing the degree conferred must be mailed or e-scripted from the college/university Registrar's Office.

GPA - Region 7 ESC requires the applicant to have an overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 OR 2.75 in the last 60 semester credit hours. The applicant must have at least 60 hours associated with a GPA on their transcript.

GPA Exception Rule - Acceptance may be granted to individuals with a GPA less than 2.5 or those with transcripts using a Pass/Fail grading system, such as Western Governors University. IMPACT ETX may use this exception to the minimum GPA requirement to admit up to 10% of candidates into any cohort if this exception does not cause the average cohort GPA to drop below 3.0.

Pre-admission Content Test (PACT) - required for those that do not have 24 credit hours from an accredited university, with 12 of them being upper level for the field in which the applicant is seeking certification in the content area that Region 7 certifies. View Certification Areas for more information.

Background Check- You MUST pass a criminal history background check to be admitted into the education preparation program. Individuals can request a preliminary criminal history evaluation from TEA. Conviction of a crime is not an automatic bar to employment. All districts will consider the offense's nature, date, and relationship to the position for which an applicant is applying. For more information, go to the following website: https://tea.texas.gov/texas-educators/investigations/preliminary-criminal-history-evaluation-faqs

Three References - The references are submitted electronically through the application.

Official College Transcripts - Please ensure that you attach your transcripts to the application. Alternatively, if available you may request your official transcripts to be sent directly by the college e-script service to [email protected]

Virtual Interview Screening - To determine whether a candidate meets the qualifications for our program. Candidates are scored using a rubric.

Additional screening procedures may be necessary to assess an applicant's suitability for teaching or other admission criteria.

Screening Process
Candidates are selected for the program based on the qualifications listed on their application and in the screening process during the interview. Not all applicants who meet the minimum requirements are selected for the program. Applicants will be evaluated using a rubric.
